Clydebank rapist is back on the streets

A CLYDEBANK sex beast, whose family warned his victim that she better move to America, is back on the streets.
Sick Robert Ballantyne has left his victim fearing for her safety after her attacker was housed just a few miles away.
She spotted the 26-year-old — who was released from prison in October — whilst out in Dumbarton recently.
And after alerting police, she found that the sick rapist, who was jailed for six years in 2004, was back on the streets and living in Alexandria.
A source close to the case told the Post: “She is worried, not only for her safety, but for that of her children.
“Ballantyne has no connection to Alexandria, all his family live in Clydebank, yet he has chosen to move there.
“They have basically put him next door to [his victim].”
In 2003 Ballantyne faced trial at the High Court in Glasgow and was found guilty of rape, three assaults — one which was on a child — and two breaches of the peace.
Ballantyne, attacked his victim in her Castlehill home, forced her to strip, tied her to the bed and tied a cord round her neck.
The monster then indecently assaulted her with the handle of the knife before carrying out other sex acts.
Ballantyne had taken pictures of the sordid attack, which later helped lead to his conviction.
The mum denied claims by the defence that she had agreed to the “sex games”.
Whilst being jailed for six years, with a further two years under supervision, a member of Ballantyne’s family shouted to the victim that she “better move to America”.
The source added: “To put him back on her doorstep is unbelievable.
“This woman is scared to let her children out alone.
“Ballantyne could have been placed anywhere in Scotland — why West Dunbartonshire?”
Ballantyne first appeared in the Post in 1999 and was branded a hero after finding seven anti-personnel mines hidden in a lorry whilst serving with the army in Kosovo.
A spokesman for the Scottish Government said that any concerns about an offender’s licence conditions they should contact West Dunbartonshire Council or the Scottish Ministers.
