HEARTBROKEN kids have created a book of memories dedicated to their teacher who sadly passed away.

Primary four teacher Patricia McFadden was due to turn up for work at Dalmuir’s Our Lady of Loretto Primary on October 29, but the sad news quickly filtered to the school when she failed to turn up.

Trisha, who lived in Duntocher, had taught at the school for 12 years and was fond of the classes she taught.

As a mark of respect to the 56-year-old, Halloween celebrations at the school were cancelled, and instead a memorial mass was held for the children to celebrate the dedicated teacher’s life.

Head teacher Ronnie Thumath said: “Her death was a great shock to the the whole of the school and the school community.

“She was a valued member of staff and will be sorely missed by everyone – we are devastated.

“It was so sudden, there was no warning, it is a great sadness.”

Mr Thumath had the terrible job of having to tell Trisha’s class that she had sadly died.

He said: “The pupils were really upset, her own class were very upset, they are getting round it now.

“It is a terrible thing to have to tell children their teacher has died, she was very fond of her class .

“I have never had to do that before, it is truly awful. The school has been quite a sombre place.”

The book of memories about the teacher was made by the pupils and will eventually pass on to the family.

Trisha’s funeral was held at St Mary’s Church in Duntocher on Friday and a number of the older pupils from the school attended with teachers to pay their respects.
