Police move after three weeks of investigations
A SCHOOLBOY has been arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a woman in Clydebank.
Police arrested the 15-year-old — who cannot be named for legal reasons — following intensive enquiries into the alleged incident which happened near to Dalmuir Park last month.
The boy who has been arrested is believed to be from the Dalmuir area.
At the time, police told how a 34-year-old woman was walking in Mountblow Road near to Littleholm Place when she was allegedly attacked.
The alleged incident took place at around 1am on Saturday August 25.
The woman raised the alarm after flagging down a passing taxi.
News of the incident sent shockwaves through the Dalmuir community.
At the time, Daniel Lennie, chair of the Dalmuir Multi-Tenants and Residents Association, told the Post: “Everyone is totally stunned.
“The park is a no-go area when it’s dark. Everyone knows that.
“It is worrying and people are even more wary about the area now.
“A number of people I know have friends who regularly walk up and down there, so it definitely makes you more fearful.”
A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police confirmed that a 15-year-old boy had been arrested in connection with the alleged serious indecent assault.
She said a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal and the Children’s Panel.
